Gary R. Snider, 70 of La Crosse, passed away peacefully following a valiant struggle on Thursday, February 22, 2024. He was born June 14, 1953, in Milwaukee, WI to Clyde and Millie (Walter) Snider and graduated from South Division High School. Following graduation, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served for four years.
On March 17, 1973, he married Donna Demler in Milwaukee. Gary received an associate degree in Auto Mechanics/Auto Body Repair from WWTC. He had worked for La Crosse Footwear for many years. Gary later worked for Great Lakes Cheese and retired from La Crosse Trane Company.
Gary was a proud member of #14 AFL-CIO Steelworkers Labor Union. He was an avid Packer’s fan, loved cars and model cars and enjoyed fishing. He truly loved spending time with the light of his life, his granddaughter, Abigail.
Gary is survived by his wife, Donna of La Crosse; three children, Jessica Cowburn of Holmen, Michelle Snider and Matthew Snider both of La Crosse; his granddaughter, Abigail Cowburn of Holmen; a sister, LaVonne Frost of Onalaska; two brothers, Clyde “Butch” Snider of Onalaska and Ernest Snider of La Crosse, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Diane Doverspike and Carol Snider, and a niece, Veronica Doverspike.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 29th at First Lutheran Church, 410 Main Street, Onalaska with Rev. Jason Stanton officiating. Entombment with military honors will follow in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to Gundersen Health System Hospice.
