Daniel R. Brown, 64, of La Crosse passed away February 16, 2022. He was an avid outdoorsman that spent most of his time hunting, fishing, camping and taking long bike rides. Every chance he could he took friends and family out on the pontoon and went on group hunting trips to Canada and out west. He loved doting on his grandkids and often taking them exploring in the woods, to their own islands on the river, sneaking them treats and parading through the neighborhood hunting heffalumps. Dan was the biggest fan of his children and grandchildren and staunchly supported their dreams and ambitions. Dan was exceedingly ambitious running 2 different businesses. Dan and his wife Shelly owned and operated Dan’s Taxidermy for 40 years and he owned B&B Landscaping & Snowplowing with his son Jason. In addition, he also served in the National Guard for 23 years. Dan was boisterous, charismatic, and made a friend with everyone who he met, he never ran out of jokes to tell and had awesomely quick wit. He was known and loved by many and will be sorely missed in the years to come. Dan is survived by his wife of 36 years, Shelly (Wing) Brown and their children, Christina (Vince) Brown-Burkhart, Jason (Kayla) Brown, Jonathon and Jennifer; his grandchildren, Mitchell, Kylie, Adaline and Amelia Burkhart. Siblings include, Rick (Christine) Brown, Renda Klingbeil, Tom (Chris) Brown, Colleen Rask, Patty (John) Stilwell, Mike (Jean) Brown, and Doug (Geri) Brown. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Peggy Wing, in addition to many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his children, Robert and Andrew Brown; his brother, Steve; parents, Ralph and Gladys; father-in-law, Richard Wing; sisters-in-law, Karen Collins, Mary Janisch, Debbie Brown; and a brother-in-law, Dean Dilley. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse, 200 West Ave. S., La Crosse, WI 54601 and again on Saturday, February 19 starting at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.
