Georgianne Hanson

Georgianne (Georgie) Hanson - Georgianne M. Georgie Hanson, 94, of La Crosse, died on Friday, March 30, 2012, at the Hillview Health Care Center.

She was born in Michigan on December 1, 1917, and later adopted by Dr. Paul H. and Clarice (Engh) Rupp. She married Helmer Melbo in La Crosse and he preceded her in death on December 24, 1982. She then married Donald Hanson in Las Vegas and he also preceded her in death.

Georgie worked as a nurses aide at Hillview Nursing Home for several years. She then worked for many years as a custodian at U.W.-La Crosse before retiring. In her free time, she enjoyed playing euchre and tending to her garden and loved to travel. Her many trips were highlighted by a trip to Hawaii with her husband, Don.

Georgie is survived by her children, Sue (Ron) Friego of Caledonia, Minn., Steve (Joyce) Melbo of La Crosse and Liz (Bob) Weber of Holmen; eleven grandchildren and many great grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was also preceded in death by a son, John Melbo; a daughter, Candace Taylor; and a grandson, Michael Boisen.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, April 3thrdth, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 907 Sand Lake Rd., Onalaska. Graveside services and burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery with Pastor Steve Meyer officiating.
