William "Bill" Warren

William G. “Bill” Warren, 65 of La Crosse passed away on Friday, October 4, 2019 at the Gundersen Healthcare System, La Crosse. He was born November 5, 1953 in Rockford, IL to Connie and Ivalyn (Fema) Warren.

Bill served in the United States Marine Corps until his honorable discharge. He married Peggy Feran and together they had four children before later divorcing. On October 24, 1987 he married Betty Strittmater at the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman in La Crosse. He had worked in the packing department for G. Heileman’s Brewery and City Brewery for 40 years. He also had worked for a short time at Degen Berglund as a delivery driver in La Crosse.

Bill was devout in his Catholic faith and was an active member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman Catholic Church where he served as an usher for many years. Bill was a man of strong work ethic, warm sense of humor and he placed God and family above all else. He was a big Green Bay Packer fan as well as an amateur boxer in his youth. Bill will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.

In addition to his wife Betty, he is survived by four children; William “Bill” Warren, Jr. of Tomah, Brian Warren of Manitowoc, WI, Mike Warren of La Crosse and Kristi Warren of Ashland, WI; 9 grandchildren; two sisters, Donna (Mark) Hoeger of Dubuque, IA and Mary (Neil) Wente of Farley, IA; two brothers, Leo Trucks of Bovee, WA and Robert Warren of La Crosse. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, George and Beatrice Strittmater; a brother, Harvin Trucks; nephew, Jeremy Hoeger; two sisters-in-law, Barbara and Rita Strittmater and a brother-in-law, Doug Strittmater.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 12 th at the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman with Rev. Jerzy Rebacz officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-7 P.M. at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Avenue South, La Crosse where a rosary will be recited at 6:45 P.M. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.

Bill's family would like to thank the first responders, all of the nurses, doctors, Chaplains in the Critical Care and Palliative Care Units at Gundersen Health System, Radisson Hotel and City Brewery for all the loving care and support during this difficult time.
