William G. Pedretti

William “Bill” George Pedretti ,86, of Genoa, WI, peacefully passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022. Bill was born in Genoa, the 9 ^th child of William Charles Pedretti and Agnes Margaret (Venner) Pedretti. He was raised on the family farm on Mound Ridge in rural Genoa and attended Mound Ridge School and later St. Charles School, graduating 8 ^th grade there. On Saturdays, Bill and his siblings would walk 3 miles to St. Charles School for summer school.  He attended Aquinas High School for two years and then obtained his high school diploma in October of 1997.  On October 19, 1957, Bill married Judith Corrine Manninger at St. Joseph Cathedral in La Crosse.  They enjoyed 26 years of married life and had a wonderful 25 ^th anniversary party before Judy’s passing in February of 1984.  While writing his biography Bill wrote about his wedding day and said, “It was the greatest day of my life.”

Bill farmed for his parents while growing up and remembers milking a cow by hand when in 1 ^st grade. He farmed his mother’s family farm where he raised purebred Angus.  Bill also farmed his dad’s family farm and bought both farms in 1960. Bill loved farming and worked hard on his farm, while also working at Allis-Chalmers and then Gateway Products.  He retired from Shopko in Onalaska. Bill enjoyed family, especially family weddings, wood carving and putting together puzzles.

Bill is survived by his children and their families:  daughter Chris (Keith) Magnuson of Stoddard, WI and their children, Melissa (Will) Cannady, Matthew (Logan) Magnuson and their child Emma, Mark (Krista) Magnuson and their children Landen, Caleb, Gabriel and Holly,  daughter  Sharon (Darrell) Haen of Greenleaf, WI, and their children Maria (Shane) Luniak, Casey Haen, Jacob Haen, son Bill Jr. (Karla) Pedretti of Genoa, WI, and their children Bill (Kirstin) Pedretti and their children Leo and Norah, Ryan Pedretti, Brian (Michelle) Sampson and their children Weston and Ella, Alexa (Troy) Sampson,  son Anthony (Angie) Pedretti of Genoa, WI and their children Michael (Thea) Pedretti and their children Levi and Colt, Brandon (Haeli) Pedretti and their children Haedyn, Kennedy and Lyla, Allison (Alex McCabe ) Pedretti, Breanna (Dale) Orgas and their child Mila, Daniel (Jenna) Finney and their children Bennett, Reid and Maverick, Michael (Paige) Finney, his  daughter Emily (Robert) McCarthy of Kenyon, MN, and their children Jessica, Jenna and George, and son Scott (Katie) Pedretti of Nashotah, WI and their children Trevor (Kim) Welch and their child Leilani, Donato Guerra and Audric Pedretti.

Bill is also survived by his siblings, Ann Reindl, Margaret Pedretti, Daniel (JoAnne) Pedretti, Michael (Nancy) Pedretti, and Leo (Ellen) Pedretti, his brother in laws Gary and Greg Manninger, and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Judy (Manninger) Pedretti, his parents William and Agnes Pedretti, his daughter Linda Pedretti, a grandson Blake McCarthy, brothers Bernard (Darlene), and Joseph (Mary Lee), sisters Agnes (Herman), Clara (Kenneth), Dolores (John), Mary Jane (David), Joan (August), and infant brothers John and James, and his in-laws Carl & Marie (Neuverth) Manninger.

A heartfelt Thank You to all the loving Creamery Creek staff that cared for Bill, and St. Croix Hospice staff.

Flowers can be sent to St. Charles Church in Genoa. Memorials in Bill’s name may be given to St. Charles Parish in Genoa or the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 17, 2022 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa. Father Daniel Sedlacek will officiate.  Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 4-6 PM and again on Friday from 10 AM until the time of service.
