William M. “Bill” Williams, 90, of La Crosse, died on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Lakeview Health Center in West Salem. He was born on August 20, 1927 in La Crosse to Leslie and Mary (Lusk) Williams. He married Marilyn Wilder on February 21, 1953 in Veedersburg, OH. Bill was a bricklayer for Williams Construction and laid foundations for hundreds of homes in La Crosse and Onalaska. He was a member of the Wisconsin Masons Union for over 50 years and retired at the age of 60. After retirement Bill took up woodworking and made furniture and was also an avid gardener. The love of his life was his grandchildren and he always had an ice cream cone for them. Bill always had room for dogs and other animals in his life.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn, children Barbara (Eric) Sorenson of Onalaska and Thomas (Kathy) Williams of La Crosse, five grandchildren, Brian (Kim) Kabat of Monument, CO, Laurie (Chris) McMartin of The Woodlands, TX, Megan Sorenson of Eau Claire, Amy Sorenson of La Crosse, and Andrew Sorenson of Wingate, NC, four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Alexa, Ava, and Sarah, a sister Ruth Spettel of California, a brother Jim Williams of Stoddard, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Steiger and Evelyn Aanas, a brother George Williams, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crosse. Father Patrick Augustine will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 – 6:00 PM and again on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Memorials may be given to Christ Episcopal Church in La Crosse or the Coulee Region Humane Society.Monday, March 19, 2018
