Wilbur Lee Talbot

Wilbur Lee Talbot, 79, of Onalaska, died on Friday, January 26, 2018.

He was born, January 18, 1939, in Covington, Ky., to Chauncey and Mary (Payne) Talbot. He later married his long-time friend, Olivia Ann France, on June28, 1968.

Following high school, Wilbur joined the United States Army. The army provided him with many adventures and travels. His final military adventure brought him to La Crosse where he became an ROTC instructor at UW-La Crosse. He taught for 4 years and loved his ROTC assignment.

Wilbur retired from the Army in 1982, but retirement did not suit him, so he decided to go back to school at WWTC and get his degree in Business Management and Marketing. He worked at Northern Engraving and Bimbo before retiring in 2011.

Wilbur married his wonderful wife, Maria, on March 22, 2010, growing his family. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, volunteering at the Onalaska American Legion, the 40 et 8, and being a Free Mason.

Wilbur is survived by his loving wife, Maria; his daughters, Rochelle (Scott) Eagles and her children, Crystal, Chanel and Gary, and Gina (David) Talbot-Mikrut and her daughter, Tarran; three step-children, Dan (Julie) Ferguson and his five children, Jon Ferguson and his two children, and Carmen Erickson and her two children; and numerous great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his many friends and other relatives that he held very dear. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Olivia.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 31st, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Onalaska. Rev. Donald Stein will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Onalaska City Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 907 Sand Lake Rd., Onalaska, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church.
