Wayne O. Wheeler

March 6, 1942 — September 16, 2018

Wayne O. Wheeler, 76 of Onalaska, Wis. died on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System La Crosse. He was born on French Island (La Crosse) March 6, 1942 to Myron and Dorothy (Goetsche) Wheeler. Following his graduation from Logan High School in 1960, he entered the United States Air Force where he served his country until 1965. Wayne married Diane Strasser on October 14, 1967 and they had two children. Wayne and Diane moved to Oshkosh in 1970 where he was employed by Leach Company until he retired. Upon retirement, Wayne and Diane moved to Onalaska. He loved spending time outside camping, boating and golfing. He was an avid Brewers, Packers and Wisconsin Badgers fan.

He is survived by his daughter Paula (Brian) Noe, son Scott (Marlene King) Wheeler, four grandchildren; Stephanie Wheeler, Alexander, Nathaniel and Matthew Noe along with two great grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters Nancy (Ken) Brown, Arlene (John) Shultis, Marie (Larry) Root and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Diane who recently passed on August 23, 2018, his parents and a brother Myron Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial for both Wayne and his wife Diane will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Rev. John Parr will officiate. Private family burial will follow. Friends may call on the family Saturday morning at the church from 9:30 am until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be donated in Wayne’s memory.
