Warren A. Engelson, 96 of La Crosse, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022. He was born in Cannon Valley, Monroe County, Wisconsin on February 25, 1926, to Ira and Lota (Steele) Engelson and graduated from Sparta High School. Warren studied Industrial Engineering at WWTI and served in the United States Army. On October 16, 1954, he married Donna Phelps at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Warren had worked for the La Crosse Trane Company as a cost estimator for over 30 years until his retirement. He then went to work for Skipper Liner as a cost estimator for five years. Warren was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in La Crosse and served as an usher for over 40 years. He enjoyed many volunteer activities especially at the Sugar Creek Bible Camp and Come for Supper at Our Savior’s. Warren also enjoyed woodworking, traveling, and helping everyone he knew. Growing up on the farm he learned how to fix anything. He also was a perfectionist in the art of needlepoint, a pastime he learned as a young boy. Warren is survived by his wife, Donna; a son, Mark (Nancy) Engelson of Dallas, TX; a daughter, Karen (Matthew) Mattes of Onalaska; three granddaughters, Kristin (Brian) Dahl of Holmen, Sara (Paul Wech) Mattes of Eau Claire and Jennifer Engelson of Dallas; two great-grandchildren, Everly and Andrew Dahl, both of Holmen; a brother, Earl (Mary) Engelson of La Crescent; a sister-in-law, Donna K. Engelson of Sparta and a brother-in-law, Fred Olsen of Sparta and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother LaMont Engelson and a sister, Arlene Olsen.
