Vickie S. Hengel

Vickie S. Hengel, 67, of La Crosse, passed away February 18, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents Willis (Willie) and Catherine Allen, and her mother-in-law Nelda J. Hengel. 

Vickie is survived by her husband, Phil Hengel; son Roman (Amy) Wells of Holmen; daughter, Alyschia Wells of Eau Claire; grandchildren Jaxsyn, Torynn and Briela Wells of Holmen, sister Debbie (Marc) Calverley of Mount Carmel, Illinois; nephew Bryan (Sara) Calverley; step-daughter Heidi (Nicky) Nieling of Rochester, Minnesota and step-grandchildren Everly and Arlo Nieling. 

Vickie was born October 13, 1957 in Illinois. She married Stephen Wells in 1982 (divorced); and later married Phil Hengel in 2012. After she graduated high school, she became a financial assistant working at various businesses. She later went on to become a laundry assistant at Sew Clean, later retiring from Gundersen Health System.

A special thank you to the nursing and provider staff at Gundersen who took such great care of Vickie during her illness. Their empathy and kindness will be remembered always.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2025 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Avenue S., La Crosse. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11:00 a.m.
