And then there was Trevor! He was born on September 29, 1979 at 4:11 a.m. in Havre, Montana to his parents, Mike and Rhonda (Barney Minnick) Laughnan. Before his birth, all leaves on the trees were green, and upon arriving home with Trevor, all leaves had changed their colors, symbolic of how the world would change forever because of his presence. He passed away at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center on Saturday morning, July 18, 2020, due to complications related to his year-long struggle with cancer.
He attended schools in Havre through high school and was a member of the HHS class of 1998. He was particularly fond of music and band. He played tuba and trombone and was a member of the HHS Pep Band, playing bass guitar in jazz band. After high school, he discovered electronic music and tried his hand at DJing with his friends locally at 324 and at events here and there in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Known as D3cib3l, he first took a liking to spinning house music and later drum and bass. Also known as Bill Brasky or “Brasky” to his online gaming community (WDT) he enjoyed the connections and friendship online and at LAN parties. That great love for video games and computers led to his career choice of computer networking. In 2008, he earned an associate degree in IT Networking from WWTC in La Crosse. He worked as a Systems Engineer at Coulee Region Solutions until he moved on to Organic Valley.
Trevor began working at Organic Valley as a Network Administrator in May of 2012. He was a dedicated employee, extremely proud of Organic Valley’s mission and culture. In May of 2013, Trevor worked with his team during the fire at headquarters in La Farge to rebuild the network and get the business up and running within 24 hours of the fire starting. Trevor earned his Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification and was highly skilled in route/switch and firewalls. Loved by his colleagues, Trevor was known for his quip, “it’s not the network” and he was right 98% of the time. He had a great work ethic; he loved his job and was able to work up until the day he died.
Trevor was a very passionate person, never afraid to give his opinion. He was a great fan of the Packers, the Brewers, and Bernie Sanders. He loved his PBR, grilling, and going to punk rock concerts. Trevor was a loyal friend to many, believing in giving a helping hand when needed. He made friends wherever he went and enjoyed his “regular” status at Yesterdaze, and more recently, The Verse. His “kids” were his two cats, Diego and Hugo, along with his dog, Frank.
