Thomas Henry Emery

June 30, 1936 — February 3, 2021

Thomas (Tom, TE) Henry Emery 84 of La Crosse passed away peacefully with family present Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Home.
He was born June 30, 1936, in La Crosse to Rinehart and Verna (Olson) Emery. Tom was a 1954 graduate of Central High School. He joined the Army National Guard in November of 1959, and received his Honorable Discharge in September of 1965. He worked at Trane Co. for 30+ years before retiring. Then to keep busy was employed by Gundersen Clinic as a part time courier for 10 + years.
Tom was a devoted caretaker of his mother and sister in the family home where he lived since he was four years old. It was also home to his dog, Ladd, a yellow lab he had back in the 60’s.
Among Tom’s favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, trap shooting, bowling, and softball. His softball experience included playing for and later coaching the Battling Bohunks from the Bohemian Hall 16” pumpkin ball team. He had a streak of over 50 years in a row meeting with his brother Bill and traveling to Canada for the opening of the fishing season. Some years they were joined by his other two brothers, Dick & Don and a nephew or two. Tom and his friends would take his motor home on a trip to Lucky Lake Saskatchewan in the fall for duck and goose hunting. He also enjoyed going to Packer games, he would tell of the times he walked all the way there, (up and down the isle of the bus) among some of those trips. Tom had a wealth of friends who he loved and they loved him. He had said, “Tell all my family and friends, I’ve had a good life, I’ve done all I’ve wanted, and I Love them All.”
He is survived by two brothers, Bill (Joan) Emery and Don (Sharon) Emery, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert Emery, Richard Emery, sister Marilyn Jirsa, sisters-in-law Ginny Emery, Jo Ann Emery, and brother-in-law John “Red” Jirsa.
A private internment for family will be held at a later date as will a Celebration of Life for family and friends when permitted.
In lieu of Flowers, memorials are preferred and can be directed to: Freedom Honor Flight of La Crosse, or American Legion Post 52 of La Crosse.
Tom’s family would like to thank his very close friend Tom Briedel, his friends from “The Smart Table” at the Bluffside, and the 3rd floor staff at Mayo Hospital in La Crosse.
