Thomas J. Dolan Sr.

Thomas “Tom” James Dolan, Sr., age 86 passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024. He was born March 11, 1938, to Mary C. Dolan and Karl Spurling in Sioux City, Iowa. Tom worked at various jobs until 1965 when he started working at the Dubuque Packing House until they closed their doors. He then worked at LaComa Golf Course in East Dubuque until he retired at the age of 75.

Tom married the absolute love of his life, Shirley Miller (“His Lady” he would call her) on November 22, 1958, in Clinton, Iowa and they were married two weeks shy of 64 years when Shirley passed away on November 6, 2022.

Those left to miss him include his children, Connie (Dale) Thesing of La Crescent, MN, and Thomas (Kay) Dolan, Jr. of Hokah, MN. Grandchildren, Victor (Kathy) Buhr of Cuba City, WI, Christina (Brent) Thesing of La Crescent, MN, Savannah Dolan of Orlando, FL and Thomas (Katie) Dolan III of Kasson, MN. Great grandchildren, McKenna, Lauren, and Natalie Thesing; Claira, Kathryn, and William Droessler; Thomas “Jay”, Eli, and Hattie Dolan. Siblings, Robert (Pam) Baysinger of Dubuque, IA and John (Helen) Baysinger of Senoia, GA. In addition to his beloved wife Shirley, he was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Delores Walker, Gloria Vanasse, Lawrence “Butch” Clark, Steven Baysinger, Sandra Hogan and Linda Campbell.

To know Tom was to instantly love Tom. He would always be seen holding Shirley’s hand. Tom always put everyone before himself, especially Shirley. This world will never be the same without you in it.

There will be no service, per Tom and Shirley’s request. The family may host a celebration of life at a later date.
