Thomas E. Deters, 57 of West Salem, Wis., died on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Gundersen Health System of La Crosse. He was born in Madison, Wis. on March 11, 1960 to Joseph and Inez (Fritz) Deters.
For several years, Tom had provided in home care for several clients in the Coulee region. Never thinking about himself, he always made sure his patients were well taken care of. He had also worked as a welder and for many years welded on the paddle wheel boats here in La Crosse. He had even worked on a paddle wheeler while travelling across the Great Lakes to Baltimore He is survived by his daughter Christine (Prentice) Tyler of Hampton, VA., stepdaughter Lisa (Lucas Brennum) Davids of La Crosse, grandson Prentice “Jo Jo” Tyler Jr. of Hampton, VA., his brother David Deters of La Crosse and half-brothers Don, Bruce, Bill and Erv Carpenter; one half-sister Kay Finley and many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Robert Deters and his grandparents. His greatest joys in life were his grandson Prentice Jr. and the achievements of his daughter Christine.
A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held from 5 until 7pm on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crosse chapel; 200 West Ave. So. Private family burial will take place at a later date.
