Terrence S. "Terry" Mcmanus

September 29, 1950 — November 10, 2022

Terrence Sean “Terry” McManus, 72, of Brownsville, MN, died on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at his home. He was born on September 29, 1950 in Milwaukee to William and Jeanette (Greenwood) McManus. Terry attended Waukesha Catholic Memorial High School and graduated from Waukesha South high school in 1969. While in college, he attended a perfusion presentation, and found his calling as a pediatric perfusionist. He worked at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee for 40 years until his retirement in 2013. He took great pride in his work, and helped to develop the field into what it is today.

Terry enjoyed several years camping in Wildcat State Park before he decided to move to Brownsville in 2015. He fell in love with the Mississippi River and knew it was where he wanted to retire. He enjoyed RVing, bicycling, motorcycle riding, eagle watching, and kayaking on the river. He also loved to save receipts and label all of his purchases with the date he bought them. He could be found watching TV on mute (especially the weather channel) while listening to NPR or Prairie Home Companion and simultaneously reading the newspaper. He hated a full garbage can, had a wonderful witty and dry sense of humor, and loved to putz in his garage and fix all things. He loved fish fries, a good bargain, was stubborn and firm in his beliefs, and has accidentally passed most of these traits on to his girls.

He is survived by two daughters. His favorite daughter, Cora McManus of Waukesha and his other (real) favorite daughter, Kelly (Mark Huggins) McManus Huggins of Waukesha; his loyal and faithful companion Bella; eight grandchildren, Emma McManus, Amelia Runte, Jillian Runte, Lorelei Runte, Quinten Huggins, Holden Huggins, Elodie Huggins, and Willa Huggins; three sisters, Kathleen McManus of Milwaukee, Rose (Peter) McMullen of Milwaukee, and Erin (Cary) Parten of Tennessee; a brother Brian (Michele) McManus of Wind Lake, WI; and nieces and nephews, Andrew (Shannon) Stern, Tim Stern, Conor McMullen, Maura McMullen, and Patrick Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Denise Stern Hamilton and a niece E.B. McManus Brown.

In Lieu of gifts, memorials in Terry’s name to the La Crescent Community Bike Shoppe or the National Eagle Center in Wabasha, MN are appreciated. Terry lived his life to the fullest, and would want all of us to do the same. As the magnet on his fridge reminded him daily, “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined”. In his memory and honor, we will do just that; along with spoiling and loving Bella for the rest of her days. We love you Dad, and miss you so very much.

A celebration of Terry’s life is being planned for Saturday, November 26, 2022 at noon at the 5 o’clock Club in Pewaukee, WI.
