Susan Rae Voigtschild

November 10, 1946 — December 4, 2023

Susan Rae Voigtschild, 77, of Onalaska, WI passed away on December 4, 2023 at her home to go and be with her Lord and Savior. She was the daughter of Kenneth and Cecelia (Reichhoff) Kingsley and was born on November 10, 1946 in Evanston, Illinois.

She was united in marriage to Glenn Arthur Voigtschild on June 7, 1969 in New Lisbon, WI. Susan had lived in Onalaska, WI since 1991. She taught elementary school in the districts of New Lisbon, WI, Elroy-Kendall-Wilton, WI, and Sparta, WI for a total of 46 years. Susan dedicated her teaching career so that all students were part of a community where everyone was loved and included. Her life was enriched by the memories and love for her former students. Susan also coached in The Sparta School District. She graduated from Juneau County Teachers College in 1968, earned her bachelor's degree from The University of Wisconsin—Stevens Point in 1972, and earned her master’s degree from The University of Wisconsin—La Crosse in 1988. Susan enjoyed cooking, shopping, riding bike, flower gardening, teaching, and traveling to Monterey, CA to see her grandsons, Benjamin and Andrew. They were the love of her life.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years: Glenn; two wonderful sons: Justin of Onalaska, WI, Nathan (Sarah) of Monterey, CA; grandsons: Benjamin and Andrew Voigtschild of Monterey, CA; brother: Gerald (Kathleen) Dye of Adams, WI; in-laws: Kay (Duane) Cleven, Gary (Debbie) Johnson, Joan (Robert) Haschke, Linda (Evans) Larson, and Gregory (Shari) Voigtschild; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents: Kenneth Kingsley and Cecelia (Reichhoff) Dye; step-father: Clarence Dye; and sister: Nancy Reinhold.

No services will be held at this time.
