Steven Lloyd Heintz

Steven Lloyd Heintz, 54, of Witoka, MN passed away at his home on Friday, April 14, 2017. He was born on October 14, 1962 to Don and Mary Lou Heintz. He attended Crucifixion School and La Crescent High School, graduating in 1981. Steve followed in his father’s footsteps and started his own excavating business. He took great pride and joy in his work and truly loved what he did. Steve also enjoyed his hobby farm, was an active member of Country Climbers Snowmobile Club, being with his family, friends, and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his fiance’ and love of his life, Candy Berg, his parents Don and Mary Lou Heintz, sons Lucas (Jen) of Winona and their children Kasten and Jocelyn, Joseph (Alex) of La Crescent and their children Victoria and Annalise, Andrew of Witoka and Bryan of Winona, sisters Sharon Glaunert of Roscoe, IL, Chris (Dave) Rowe of La Crescent, and Dawn (Terry) Lewis of La Crescent, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and great-nieces, and his ex-wife Bobbie Jo Hemker. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lloyd Heintz, Valery and Mildred Schleich, and maternal grandparents, Charles and Marjarie Cavanaugh.

Steve was an outstanding father, uncle, son, and grandfather. He took joy in everything he did and made everything enjoyable. He treasured his family and friends. Steve will be truly missed by all. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Crucifixion, La Crescent. Rev. Gregory Havel will officiate. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Church of the Crucifixion and again on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
