It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steven J. Banasik, DDS. Steve was called home on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at the age of 75, at his sister’s home in La Crosse, Wisconsin after a long fight with prostate cancer. His beautiful wife Mary was by his side.
Steve was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin on January 24, 1947, to Robert and Florence (Strasser) Banasik. He attended Holy Trinity and Aquinas schools in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and graduated from Marquette University Dental School in 1971.
Steve married the love of his life, Mary Prindiville, in 1983, and they lived in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where Steve held a dental practice for many years.
Steve and Mary enjoyed the American Shakespeare Theatre together. He was also an avid and talented golfer. He shared a great passion for the game and valued the lasting friendships he made on the course. He also enjoyed watching the Milwaukee Brewers and would share his knowledge of the game with anyone who would listen. Steve had an amazing smile, charming personality and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Steve is survived by his wife Mary; sons, Bradley, Ryan and Kevin (Angela); four grandchildren, Ulysses, Kevin Jr., Grace and Ava; and his siblings, Craig (Karen) Banasik, Judy Ganley, Pris Graf, Cindy Herlitzke, Bonnie Dahl, Berta (Scott) Ackerson and Kim (Norm) Tadt. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers-in-law, Bob Graf and Carl Ganley.
A private service will be held at the family’s request. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gundersen Health System– Hospice ( foundation.gundersenhealth.org ) or a charity of one’s choice.
