With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Steve Mueller, who peacefully departed on December 24, 2024, at 84. Steve was born to Jessie and Leo Mueller in La Crosse, WI, on March 27, 1940. He graduated from La Crosse Central in 1958 and from the University of Wisconsin in 1962. On December 29, 1962, he married Linnea Hayek. Steve worked for Retail Credit Company until May 1968, when he and Linnea purchased the Fireside Restaurant. They purchased Lithographic Printing seven years later. They owned Lithographics until they sold the business and retired in December 1999. Steve enjoyed and appreciated his fine employees and customers, many of whom became close friends.
Steve leaves behind his wife, Linnea, of almost 62 years; a daughter, Kristen (Jon) Sprehn of New Richmond, WI; a son, Gregg (Lindsay) Mueller of Minnetonka, MN; five grandchildren: Laura (Crecencio) Yennie, Emma (Michael) Brown, Grace Sprehn, Jack Mueller, and Luke Mueller; his sister, Patti Mueller; a brother, Bill (Jean) Mueller; a sister-in-law, Sonja Dauphin; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Charles Dauphin, and many aunts, uncles, and grandparents.
In honor of the care Steve received at the end of his life, the family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the employees at Hearten House III, Bluff View Memory Care, and St. Croix Hospice Care for their compassionate, loving, and thoughtful care.
A visitation on Friday, January 17, 2025, will begin at 10:00 am at English Lutheran Church, La Crosse, WI. A memorial service will start at 11:00 am, with a luncheon to follow. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm at Oak Grove Cemetery in La Crosse.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater La Crosse, the English Lutheran Church choir, or the English Lutheran Church quilters.
