Shirley L. Walchak was born in Rockton, WI on March 25, 1926 to Maxwell and Hazel (Bloss) Revels. She passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Gundersen Health System, with her loving son and daughter-in-law at her side. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Ploeger (Lisick), her son, Tim (Deborah) Lisick Sr., her grandson Timmy (Kelly) Lisick Jr. and their children Abigail, Allison and Jaxon Lisick, her step-grandson, Timothy (Laura) Felton, their children, Olivia, Zoey and Tyson Felton, her sister Judy Webber and her brother, Terry Revels. She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Hazel Revels, her husband Elmer Walchak, and her eight brothers Shelton, Stanley, John, George, Clint, Claire, Philip and Teddy. She worked at various places over the years, among them, La Crosse Garment Company, Trane Company and following her retirement from Trane Company, she started work at her favorite employer, McDonald’s. She started at the Mall McDonald’s and followed them to the new site across the road. She often said that the young people working there kept her young, and she remained friends with many of them. One of her proudest moments was when an article about her and several other ladies who worked for McDonald’s appeared in a booklet printed in Celebration of The Franchise owner. He referred to the ladies as “The Golden Girls”, probably in reference to “The Golden Arches.” Shirley loved dogs, and in lieu of flowers, a memorial may be sent to Coulee Region Humane Society, 911 Critter Court, Onalaska, Wi 54650, or to Gundersen Health System Hospice program, 1900 South Ave., La Crosse, WI. 54601.
