Shirley Bernice Heeter

Shirley Bernice Heeter, age 95, of La Crescent, MN, died on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at La Crescent Health Services. She was born on September 14, 1924 in Kendall, WI, to Edward and Rose Von Haden.

Shirley married Glen D. Heeter in Viroqua, WI, on December 28, 1945 and he preceded her in death on September 3, 1992. Two infants also preceded her- Glenna Rose born March 5, 1951 passed away on April 19, 1951 and Rodney Patrick who was born on November 30, 1951 and passed away shortly after birth. She is survived by her five sons; Vaughn (Jane), Ranard, Reginald, David (Sara) and Harlan all of La Crescent and also seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

She retired from St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse where she worked in the Data Processing Department.

Shirley was a faithful charter member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in La Crescent where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was active at the Harry J. Olson Center in La Crosse. She also enjoyed dancing at the Concordia Ballroom and the Moose Club. In addition, Shirley loved to travel and line dance with the “Boot Scootin’ Grannies” who entertained at many nursing homes.

Our family wishes to thank Mayo Health System Hospice Care and the nursing home staff for their loving care of our mother.

Due to current Health concerns with the Coronavirus, funeral services will be held privately for the family, with burial at Prince of Peace Cemetery in La Crescent.
