Sheryl Oliver

On Monday, April 24, 2017, Sheryl Mary (Mattie, Asleson) Oliver, 68, became whole again and is now dancing and singing in heaven.

She was greeted by her mother Phyllis (Barker) Schnick; her father, Glenn Joern; step-fathers, Ralph “Popsie” Ness and Roger P. Schnick; grandparents, Roy and Florence (Kelly) Barker; aunt and uncle, Wallace and Margie Barker; husbands, Bernard “Bert” Mattie, Sr. and Jerome “Jerry” Asleson; step-son, Bernard “Bernie” Mattie, Jr.; and brothers-in-law, Donald Slabik and Robert “Reb” Morris.

Left here to remember her are her children, Jeff (Pamela) Mattie, Thomas Mattie, and Kimberly (Dino) Ghelfi; grandchildren, Sara Bartle, Tyler Mattie, Alexandria Ghelfi, Jacob Ghelfi, Ann (Dan) Garity, Annette (Terry) Yoshizumi, Michael (Kristen) Mattie, Mary Atkinson, and Edward (Carrie) Mattie; great grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra Slabik and her identical twin sister, Sharon Morris; daughter-in-law, Patricia Mattie; and nieces, nephews and many friends, especially Rickie “Slim” Lindberg.

Sheryl was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1920 and took special pride in belonging to the National Daughters of the Grand Army and Wilson Relief Corps.

It was Sheryl’s request that no funeral or visitation be held. A celebration of her life will be held from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, May 14 ^th , at the French Island Community Center, 617 Plainview Road, La Crosse.

We would like to thank all of the caring staff at Mayo Clinic Health System and Benedictine Manor, and also everyone who has expressed love, concern and prayers for our Dear Mother. She was the best Mom she could be. She was independent and loved deeply. She gave us the lasting gift of strength and determination. We will miss her!
