Sherman C. Miller

April 7, 1921 — June 14, 2018

Sherman C. Miller, 97 of La Crosse passed away at his home on Thursday, June 14, 2018. He was born April 7, 1921 in Moreland, KY to Dello and Bessie (Maddox) Miller. Sherman was an Army Veteran who served in Italy during WWII.

On April 1, 1943 he married Marjorie Itnyre and she preceded him in death on June 1, 1968. In January of 1969 he married Vera Sather in La Crosse.

Sherman had worked for over 72 years as a bricklayer. He was a member of the Bricklayers Local #1, Wisconsin and served as their business agent for 20 years. He enjoyed playing guitar, fishing, working in his lawn as well watching and feeding birds. Sherman also loved the family dog, Lady-his palsey-walsey.

In addition to his wife Vera, he is survived by four children; Richard (Carol) Miller and Cheryl Miller both of California, Michael (Debra) Sather and Gary Sather both of La Crosse; a daughter-in-law, Sue Miller of Hubertus, WI; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie; a son Dennis Miller; a grandson Daniel Miller; three sisters, Alene, Bonnie and Flossie; three brothers, Allan, Everett and Robert.

A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 19 th in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum Chapel, Woodlawn Cemetery in La Crosse with Rev. Karen Bankes officiating. Military honors provided by American Legion Post 52 will follow.
