Sharon May Schermerhorn died Saturday, November 12, 2022, after a brief illness. She was the eldest child born of Gordon and May Schermerhorn on May 28, 1948.
While growing up in La Crosse she could be found swimming, water skiing, fishing, spending time at the boat house and cruising 3rd and 4th streets on her motorcycle. She was a 1966 graduate of La Crosse Central High School. A true child of the sixties.
After graduation she worked for her grandfather, William Roden at Western Fruit Company until its closing. The rest of her working life included La Crosse Rubber Mills, Walmart, Access Mobility and finally retiring from Gundersen Coulee Trails in 2013. In retirement she continued to serve the elderly as a Mobile Meals volunteer.
Sharon is survived by her sister, Nancy (Garland) Amunson, sister-in-law Nancy Schermerhorn, nieces Kelly and Sara and nephew Patrick. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Richard and Mark Schermerhorn and nephew Eric Schermerhorn.
She was a proud 50 Year member of the Presbyterian Church, and also served as a deacon for many years. As per her request the internment ceremony will be private and will occur at Oak Grove Cemetery.
She loved her dogs and kitties if you feel inclined to donate to La Crosse Humane Society. Sherry lived a humble and authentic life. She would want everyone to be kind and forgiving of others. She will be missed.
