Sharon Joye Peters, 82 of Holmen, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father at home on January 9, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born at Saint Ann’s Hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin on April 16, 1939, the daughter of Joye Wilma Severson and Elmer Ellis Burand.
Sharon grew up with her two siblings Keith and Denis in La Crescent, Minnesota, Ottumwa, Iowa, and Waukegan, Illinois. She graduated from Waukegan High School and attended Northern Illinois University, DeKalb.
She was married to Edward Arroyo from 1958 to 1972, with whom they had five children. She was married to Spencer “Pete” Peters on December 23, 1993.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Pete, her six children, Tamara (Mervyn) Elliott, Gregory (Sue) Arroyo, Bradley (Laura) Arroyo, Kymberly (William) Ehlebracht, Timothy (Jamie) Arroyo, Erin (Jayson) Parker, brothers Keith (Beverly) Burand and Denis (Cathy) Burand.
Sharon and Pete enjoyed twenty-nine happy years together, playing golf, traveling, entertaining friends, and spending time with family, spoiling their seventeen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, three nieces, one nephew and four Borzois.
Sharon was an amazing seamstress. She also had a passion for cooking and especially baking. Given the chance she would have adopted all the dogs in need of a loving home.
Never complaining, she bravely fought lung disease for many years with her husband Pete by her side. After her last hospital stay and difficult prognosis in April, she was determined to continue fighting. She savored every day spent with her loving family, and expressed her feelings of peace, knowing she was loved. She was a gentle soul who will be missed more than words can say.
