Sharon Louise Kendhammer, age 70, of La Crosse, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at home after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Sharon was born in La Crosse on November 28, 1951, to Arthur and Gladys (Arneson) Johnson.
Sharon graduated from La Crescent High School in 1969 and was proud to be a member of the first class to attend all four of their high school years in the new school. She then attended secretarial school in Winona which prepared her for her 40+ year career at the La Crosse Tribune as the secretary to the Publisher. She met her husband Ronald Kendhammer at Breezy Point on French Island in 1970 and they later married on October 14, 1972. She was the proud owner of a 1965 Ford Mustang and went through a few sets of tires since Sharon had a lead foot. Her brother Gerald also took her mustang drag racing and won a trophy. Sharon was very animated as she spoke, and one could gather from her facial expressions and witty comments just what she was thinking. She had a little bit of her father, Art, in her. She always looked forward to her annual “Girls” weekend with her mom, Aunt Esther, and cousins Diane and Renae. She also loved her flowers and would always attend the Christmas Open House at La Crosse Floral.
Sharon is survived by her husband Ronald; two sons, Chad (Kathy), Joel (Marissa); three grandchildren Kaleb and Oliver Kendhammer and Samuel Kendhammer; three brothers, Donald (Chris) Johnson, Loran Johnson (special friend Andrea), and Jeff Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Linda Johnson and Linda Levendoski; one uncle, Jim Johnson; and many nephews, one niece, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Gladys Johnson, and her in-laws, Roman and Thelia Kendhammer; brother, Gerald Johnson; nephew, Matthew David Johnson; her Aunt Katie Johnson and cousin, Eric Johnson.
