Sally Ann Bagniefski, 68, passed away on March 25, 2024. She was a current resident of La Crosse and a long-time resident of Fairbanks, Alaska.
Sally was born in La Crosse on January 24, 1956, to Virgil and Colleen Roberts. She grew up on the family farm in Dakota, MN, with her three sisters whom she remained close with even after she moved away.
Sally married the love of her life, Marcus Bagniefski on June 7, 1975. They lived a short time in Wisconsin and Colorado before taking the adventurous step and moving their family to Fairbanks, Alaska in 1985. Sally was skeptical of the move and told Marc “she would stay for two years max”. Her love of the Alaskan summers kept her there for 36 years before the winters got to be too much and she returned to La Crosse in 2021. The life they built together, with their two children, Tony and Dawn, was filled with outdoor adventures and love. She loved to garden, growing vegetables and flowers. Most of all she loved to be out in the sunshine with her family.
Sally is survived by her children; Tony Bagniefski of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Dawn (Chris) Clemment of Fitchburg; grandsons Jackson and Lucas Clemment; sisters, Ann (Mark) Bashaw of La Crosse, and Christine (Jerry) Norton of Nodine, MN. She is further survived by Marc’s family including sisters Nancy Jaekel and Janet Bagniefski, and sister-in-law Beth Bagniefski, and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marc, her sister, Mary Mercer and her parents.
A celebration of life will be held for the immediate family and she will be laid to rest alongside her husband at a later date.
