Sally Ann Amundsen, 87, beloved spouse, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother peacefully passed away with family present at Bethany-Riverside Nursing Facility on Saturday, January 6, 2018.
Sally was born December 28, 1930, in Whalen, Minnesota to Joseph and Selma (Hanson) Dettinger. Sally married the love of her life, Ralph Amundsen on January 17, 1948.
Our mother, Sally was an amazing woman. Graceful in all she did, Mom set the standard for how to love life and how to show love to others. She and our father, Ralph, the love of her life and best friend, led by example. She died just a few days short of their seventieth wedding anniversary.
Our mother met all with a loving heart and open arms. Her beautiful presence brought warmth to any room. She listened deeply when others brought their problems to her. She offered her support with grace to all who sought her help. Her patience and kindness knew no boundaries. She embraced life, living each day to its fullest. Through devotion to her husband, her children, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Mom taught all how to love and serve.
With unbounding optimism Mother raised her six children and was called “Mom” by many, many more. She was truly a beautiful, strong, remarkable woman. She touched many with her dignity, grace and charm. Mom will be so very missed by all who knew her.
Survivors are husband Ralph: five sons Ralph (Rhonda), Ronald (Susan), Richard (Georgia), Russell (Beverly), Rory (Sheri), and daughter, Lorrie Roeck-Wiese (Paul); 16 grandchildren, Richard (Susan) Amundsen, Susan (Craig) Sacia, Amy Amundsen (Travis Fischel), Kevin Amundsen, April (Brad) Gates, Christopher (Danielle) Amundsen, Michael Amundsen, Renee Amundsen (Duane Contorus), Lisa (Dan) Stevens, Adam (Jordon) Amundsen, Nicholas (Kate) Amundsen, Amberly Roeck, Kaely Roeck, Ryan Wiese, Nichole (Dan) Crego; 19 great grandchildren, Andrew, Joseph, Rebecca, Delaney, Rex, Kade, Mason, Tyler, Layla, Jonah, Matthew, Eli, Dode, Crystal, Junior, Zachary, Landon, Nolan, Natalie, 1 great-great grandchild, Aislin.
