Ruth A. McLean, 100, of La Crosse died on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Eagle Crest South. She was born January 21, 1917 in Belvidere, IL to Charles and Mabel (Andrews) Lindquist and graduated from Belvidere High School in 1935. On March 25, 1939, she married Robert McLean and they divorced in 1974.
Ruth served as a Red Cross volunteer nurse in the 1940s and then attended nursing school and worked as an L.P.N. at the Highland Hospital in Belvidere and later at Palomar Hospital in Escondido, CA until her retirement. In 1991, she moved to La Crosse. She took loving care of her family and her pets. Ruth enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and nature. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in La Crosse.
Ruth is survived by three daughters; Judy (Wayne) Casperson of Ames, IA, Bonnie (Jim) Nesbitt of La Crosse and Jane (Kraig) Osberg of Kankakee, IL; five grandchildren; Toni Casperson of Story City, IA, Tim (Kathy) Casperson of Story City, IA, Mike (Keri) Nesbitt of Ventura, CA, Sara Nesbitt of Fort Collins, CO and Tania (Brad) Osberg Lagesse of Bourbonnais, IL; three great-grandchildren; Austin Lagesse, Evan Lagesse and Miles Marion Nesbitt, along with three nieces, Elaine (Roger) Eckdahl, Susan Smith and Joy Richey; and a nephew, Gary (Mary) Lindquist. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; Richard, Paul and Charles Lindquist and a niece, Annette Lindquist.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 10 th at First Presbyterian Church in La Crosse with Rev. Dr. J. Taylor Haley officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Bethany Hearten House 1, Bethany Eagle Crest Memory Care 1 or the First Presbyterian Church Deacon Fund.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff of Hearten House I, Eagle Crest Memory Care I, and Gundersen Hospice; also her friends, neighbors, and her church for the loving care they provided Ruth for the last ten years of her life. Special thanks to Kathy Barth who was her ongoing faithful and faith-filled visitor.
