Rue A. Gantka

Rue A. Gantka, 88 of La Crosse passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. She was born March 9, 1930 in Ferryville, WI to Richard and Pearl (Warren) Torgerson and attended Logan High School in La Crosse. On November 5, 1949 she married Francis Gantka and they later divorced.

Rue had worked at Pla-Mor Lanes, Coney Island and McDonald’s in La Crosse. She enjoyed bowling, camping, golfing and family time. Rue was a lifetime member of Eagles Aerie 1254 in La Crosse.

Rue is survived by five children; Rodney (Diana) Gantka of Apache Junction, AZ, Daniel (Candace) Gantka of Thousand Oaks, CA, Sharon (Tom) Harnisch, Nancy (Joe) Schmidt and Kimberly (Clint) Marohl all of La Crosse; 12 grandchildren, many great and great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Allen (Jeanette) Torgerson of Viroqua, Peter (Mary) Torgerson of Independence, Thomas “Larry” Torgerson of Kenosha and David Torgerson of La Crosse; two sisters, Rose Zakem of Monument, CO and Norma (Robert) Sokolik of Prairie du Chien along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elsie Mae Novak; three brothers, Robert Torgerson, Richard Torgerson and Roger Torgerson.

A Memorial Celebration will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Friday, March 23 ^rd at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Avenue South, La Crosse.
