Ronald L. Hare, 86 of French Island, died at the home of his daughter in Holmen on Sunday, January 7, 2024. There is a saying that goes, “Any man can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad.” On January 7th the world lost the finest example of a dad to walk the face of this earth. There wasn’t a day that we didn’t feel safe and loved in his presence, nor a day that he didn’t show by example how to be a great father and husband.
Ron was born on September 27, 1937, in Galesville, WI to Lynn and M. Lorriane (Quinn) Hare. On September 10, 1960, he married the girl across the street, Judy Russell and together they had four children: Barbara (James) Schmalz, Jeffery Hare (Brenda Henning), Rich (Michelle) Hare and Jeremy (Shanna) Hare. He will also be leaving behind eight grandchildren: Heather (Jack) Patschull, Scott (Eneida Ferreira) Schmalz, Richard Hare, Nathan Hare, Dalton Hare, Abigail (Tyler Kachel) Hare, Elizabeth (Darren) Pahl and Alison Hare; four great-grandchildren, Lucas and Christopher Patschull, Braxtyn and Hayzlee Pahl; brothers, Butch (Sue) Hare and Mike (Kathy) Hare; and a sister, Patsy Erickson. Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Judy, his son, Jeffery and his parents, Lynn and Lorraine.
A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, January 18th at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Avenue South, La Crosse. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the services. Burial will be held in the French Island Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorials are given to the American Heart Association.
