Roger E. Will

Roger E. Will, age 80, of La Crescent, MN, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at this home. He was born on February 14, 1943, in Columbus, WI to Edward and Wilma (Wodill) Will. Roger joined the United States Marin Corps when he was 17 years old. After serving in the Marine Corps for four years and being honorably discharged, he joined the Army Reserves to continue serving his country. Roger received his associate degree in criminal justice and served for 28 years on the Blair Police Department in Blair, WI, retiring as the Chief of Police. Roger was a member of American Legion Post 51 in West Salem, WI. On November 29, 1997, Roger married Mary Papenfuss in Las Vegas, NV. Together they enjoyed going on several trips and vacations and spending their winters living in Las Vegas and Arizona. Roger enjoyed gardening, doing yardwork, antiquing, collecting coins, and playing cards. He especially cherished his time visiting his friends, John Graf, Steve Roberts, and Gary Korish. Roger was very proud of his time spent in the military, serving the Blair community as Police Chief, and taking care of his beloved wife, Mary. Roger is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Rob, Tim, and Scott Will; stepdaughters, Vicki Muller and Lorri Muller; step grandson, Tom Sennes; and sister, Diane Berndt. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Jennifer Will. A private burial will be held with military honors at the Dakota Cemetery in Dakota, MN.
