Roger D. Oseth

Roger David Oseth, 75 of La Crosse died on February 2, 2017 at the Mulder Health Care Center in West Salem, Wis. He was born on January 9, 1942 to Martin and Louise (Schutz) Oseth. He was raised in Caledonia, Minn. and graduated from Caledonia High School in 1960. Roger joined the Wisconsin Army National Guard on December 2, 1963. In February of 1966 he was promoted to the position of Administrative Supply Technician. On January 27, 1968, he married Kathleen Kroack in Onalaska, Wis. While with the Guard, he worked his way up to Sergeant First Class, then on February 1, 1981 he was appointed Warrant Officer. His duties were administrative and as a Technician, worked for the 426 th Engineer Battalion, Onalaska. 1 St Battalion 128 th Infantry, Eau Claire, Wis., and retired as Chief Warrant Officer Five from Headquarters State Area Command, Madison, Wis. on December 1, 2001. He had a total of 38 years of service to his country.

Roger and his wife travelled to many destinations during their married life including locations within the United States, Canada and Mexico. They went on several Caribbean cruises as well.   Roger and his wife had lived in Onalaska and later settled to La Crosse. He was an avid Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers Football fan.

In addition to his wife of 49 years Kathy, he is survived by one sister Janet (Edward) Ballou of Janesville, Wis., two brothers Donald (Laurel) Oseth of St. Paul, Minn., Gordon (Linda) Oseth of Lake Havasu City, AZ., sister in law Patricia Kirchoff of Normal, Ill., two brothers in law James Kroack of Bethalto, Ill., Richard Bain of Bethalto, Ill., his godchild Melissa Geiwitz of Orlando, Fla., his special nieces Linda (Mike) Hirschuber of Hokah, Minn., Jyll Abrams of Medford, OR., and other nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Roger’s wishes, a committal service with military honors provided by the United States Army and American Legion Post 52 will be held at 12:30pm on Friday, April 21, 2017 in the Garden Mausoleum at Oak Grove Cemetery.  Online guestbook may be signed at www.schumacher-kish.com.
