Roger B. Meier

Roger B. Meier, 88 of La Crosse/Stoddard, WI., passed away peacefully at his home in La Crosse with his family and his dog “Susie” by his side on Friday, February 25, 2022. He was born in Cochrane, WI., on February 8, 1934 to Herman and Emma (Alitz) Meier. He graduated from Alma High School in 1952 then joined the United States Army in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1956. On October 25, 1958 he married Shirley Glander at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Alma, WI. Roger had worked 33 years for Dairyland Power Cooperative from 1960 until his retirement in 1993. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Shirley Meier, his children Bruce (Christina) Meier, Bryan (Michelle) Meier, Brenda Meier (Thomas Kerian), Brett Meier (Julie Rybarczyk), Julie (Tony) Begeman, Joel Meier (Patti Connery), Kristina Meier and foster son Justin Peck. Further survived by sister Cleo (Jerry) Schaefer, sister in law Emilie Meier and brother in law Richard Glander, grandchildren Angela West (Keith Kjos), Bradley West, Casey (Brent) Johnson, Nicole (Andrew) Adey, Matthew Kerian, Ian Begeman, Chelsea (Will) Ricks, Lucas Begeman, Crystal (Peter) Prise, Thomas (Dena) Nimmo, Spencer Jelinek and great-grandchildren June Johnson, Haisley Johnson, Sawyer Ricks and many nieces and nephews. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a foster parent to many over the last 50 plus years. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Myron (Ardelle) Meier, Odell Meier, Emmett (Sondra) Meier, Belvadine “Susie” Meier-Gallo, Jerry Braatz as well as several in- laws and foster daughters Stacy Campbell and Stacey Altoff. A private service for the immediate family will be held. A celebration of Roger’s life will be held at a later date.
