Roderick R. Breyer

Roderick R. Breyer, 89, of Ridgeway, MN, died on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Mayo Health System, La Crosse. He was born on November 12, 1927 in New Hartford Township, MN to Andrew and Ida (Huebner) Breyer. He married Gladys Emery on September 3, 1948 in La Crosse. They moved to the family farm near Ridgeway in 1949 where they farmed for 64 years. Rod also worked for Trane Co. as a welder for over 30 years. After retirement, they enjoyed wintering in the south. Rod loved watching Vikings football, Twins baseball, old westerns, and climbing on the four-wheeler to check out the farm. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by two daughters, Karen (Don) Groth of Cumberland, WI and Marilyn (Dave) Gellersen of Ridgeway, MN, a son Randy (Val) Breyer of Ridgeway, MN, ten grandchildren, Scott (Judy) Groth, Tami (Shawn) Brooks, Ellen (Lance) Trotman, Heidi (Ben) Olson, April Breyer, Adam Breyer, Amy Breyer, Rachael (Michael) Pierce, Sarah (Lamond) Hessler, and Karl (Heather) Gellersen, seventeen great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Rebecca Groth, Megan Powell, Nessa Brooks, Ahnika and Cully Trotman, Jacob and Marcus Olson, Daniel Hessler, Hannah, Marshall, Seth, RubyAnne, and Hudson Pierce, and Gracie, Madeline and Jake Gellersen. He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys, a great-granddaughter Emily Powell, four sisters and one brother.
