Robert Michael Roraff of Bangor Wisconsin, formerly of West Salem, WI, passed away July 15th 2023 at Mayo Hospital La Crosse after a short but hard fought battle with cancer. He was born in La Crosse, WI on March 17th 1957 to Robert (Bob) and Myrtle (Jasperson) Roraff. Robert graduated from West Salem High School in 1975. Robert married the love of his life Mary Ann Muenzenberger on December 10th 1977, remaining faithfully in love with her through all his days. Their marriage was blessed with two wonderful children, David and Jessica (Kurt Heyroth) who gave him four precious gifts, his loving grandchildren Lillian, Leeland, Alexis, and Lainey.
Robert worked for 30 plus years as a nurse aide at Lakeview Healthcare Center in West Salem. He was always helping others around him, mowing lawns, shoveling, helping haul items such as recycling, and anything else he might help another person with, especially stacking wood at his daughter and son-in-laws. He always had a joke and a smile. He was an avid reader as well as history buff, collecting books and magazines with zeal. His love of almost all Wisconsin sports was also something he adored, be it the Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee Brewers and yes, the Minnesota Vikings (nobody is perfect he would say). He would regularly watch or listen to most of these games whenever he could, sporting them through his attire as well. His curiosity of a construction site or a new housing development sent him on an adventure. He was a fan of George Carlin, as well as many musical artists that rounded out him as a unique yet down to earth man.
In addition to his wife of 45 years, children and grandchildren, he is further survived by two sisters Lynne (Jeff) Miller and Debra Soller (Todd Plunkett), sister-in-laws Janet Muenzenberger, Lynn (Robert) Russ, Jean Muenzenberger, Joann (Terry) Foellmi, Gail Salha and Sara Muenzenberger, brother-in-laws Dean (Carol) Muenzenberger and John (Sallyann) Muenzenberger, numerous nieces, nephews and additional extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, two brother-in-laws and many special pets including Precious, Angel, Sunshine, Misty, Spunky and Sherlock.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff on the 7th floor of Mayo Hospital for all their compassionate care that Robert received during his final days.
A celebration of life will be held at the home of his daughter and son-in-law on Saturday, September 16th, 2023 starting at 1:00pm; W400 Davis Road, Bangor. The family would like you to wear something red, purple or a favorite sports team memorabilia in memory of him; or come as you are.
