Robert L. Marcou

Robert L. “Bob” Marcou, 85, died peacefully at Hillview Health Care Center, in La Crosse, on December 29 ^th , 2022, following a short illness due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease. His family was at his side.

Bob was employed by the La Crosse Telephone Company (later CenturyLink) for close to 40 years, until his retirement in 1999.  He was an avid train lover, and railroad and telephone memorabilia collector. He was a longtime member of the 4000 Foundation, the La Crosse County Historical Society, and the Coulee Region Humane Society. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Diane, visiting Europe three times, and enjoying several ocean cruises.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Diane (nee Beranek), two sons, David (Susan), of Fitchburg, WI, Paul (Kathy), of Madison, WI, one daughter, Anne (James) Geldreich, of West Bend, WI, and two grandchildren Matthew Marcou and Oliva Marcou. He is also survived by a sister, Janice Riley, of Wauwatosa, WI, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral, in La Crosse, at 10:00AM. There will be a visitation, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Avenue South, in La Crosse, on Wednesday, January 4, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM (with a rosary prayed at 6:30PM). There will also be a visitation, one hour prior to the funeral mass, at the Cathedral.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Hillview Health Care Center and Mayo-Franciscan Health for their excellent and loving care during Bob’s final days.
