Robert "Bob" Broihier

Robert D. “Bob” Broihier, 87, formerly of La Crosse, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at the Lakeview Health Center in West Salem.

He was born August 13, 1934, to Dana and Grace (Anderson) Broihier.  He attended La Crosse area schools and graduated from Central High School in 1953.

Bob married Ruth Jones in 1953 and they later divorced.  He had subsequent marriages with Ruth Cabat (deceased) and Shirley Kolhoven (deceased).

Bob was an avid dog-lover who owned and operated a dog grooming and boarding business in La Crosse for many years.  He also enjoyed traveling around the country to dog shows, showing merchandise that he had made.  In his later years, Bob worked at Quillin’s Grocery Store for several years.

Bob is survived by his children, Debbie (Kevin) Connell of Summerville, SC, Linda Broihier of Phoenix, AZ, Kevin (Susan) Broihier of Bountiful, UT, and Barbara Collins of Tucson, AZ; nine grandchildren, Jason Glenn of Franklin, NC, Courtnie Higgs of Bedford, TX, Vania (Carson) Adkins of Phoenix, AZ, Olivia Adkins of Phoenix, AZ, Tiffany Nelson of Bountiful, UT, Michael (Meghan) Broihier of Bountiful, UT, John (Ashley) Collins of Tucson, AZ, Dana Collins (fiancé, Nicole Harris) of Sparks, NV, and Michael (Shelby) Collins of Garden City, KS; thirteen great grandchildren; his fiancé, Ruth Page of Onalaska; and nieces, nephews, and other extended family.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Dean Broihier; his brother, Earl Broihier, and Earl’s wife, Shirley.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, January 31, 2022, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Ave. So., La Crosse, with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m.  Bob’s grandson, Pastor Michael Collins, will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse.
