Rita R. Greene

Rita R. Greene, 74, of La Crosse, WI passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Sterling House in La Crosse. She was born on November 20, 1946 in La Crosse to Lawrence and Marjorie (Stahl) Ready. She married Ray Greene on April 2, 1966 in La Crosse and they later divorced. After becoming ill, Rita moved back to La Crosse where her family cared for her. Rita was the first female dispatcher for the Beloit, WI police department. She worked for over 30 years as secretary at numerous medical facilities. Rita was an absolute people person who enjoyed having fun. She was an excellent mother and grandmother.

Rita is survived by two daughters Sandi (Scott) DeFord of Lewistown, IL, Dawn Greene – Bublitz of Winona, MN, four grandchildren Ericka (Jake) Waterman of Golden, CO, Michael Hibser of Fort Hood, TX, Scott Light (fiance’ Carson McCulloch) of Winona, MN and Jonathan DeFord of Lewistown, IL, two sisters Dorene Reis and Margo (Howard) Baumgartner both of La Crescent, MN, one brother Andy (Judy) Ready of La Crescent, MN along with a sister-in-law Lois Ready of Byron, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Roger Ready.

In keeping with Rita’s wishes there will be no services. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in La Crescent at a later date. Memorials are preferred to Gundersen Hospice.
