Richard (Rick) J. Kouba, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Monday March 13 th at his home in Onalaska surrounded by his loving family. Rick was born on April 19, 1948, in Hillsboro, WI. Following his graduation from Hillsboro High School he earned his Bachelor of Science in business administration and science at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where he was a member of Delta Sigma Pi. Rick married Linda Myers and into a large and loving family in 1970, and they celebrated 52 years of marriage in 2022. Rick managed the current Wisconsin Building Supply for 35 years. Rick and Linda purchased property at Jellystone Park in Warrens, WI in 1996, and were blessed with wonderful friends who became family. Rick is survived by his wife Linda, and their children Jamie (Amber), Jason (Chris) and Joel (Rachel) Kouba; grandchildren Axtyn, Andyn and Sydney Kouba, Bailey (Mitch) Joseph, and Jayce and Jayden Gorski; his sister Mary (Tom) Baumgarten, brother Bill Kouba; his aunt Angeline Boggiano; special friends the Midtlien family; many nieces and nephews; and his extended Jellystone family. Rick was preceded in death by his parents Marie and Jim Kouba, stepfather Rudy Verbsky, in-laws Virgil and Lucille Myers, and sister-in-law Judy Kouba.
Rick lived his life to the fullest, and enjoyed every moment he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a devoted Badger fan and enjoyed watching and playing basketball any chance, he had. He always had the best advice and seemed to know the answer for everything.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 20th at St Patrick’s Parish in Onalaska with Msgr. Steven Kachel officiating. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
