Richard "Rc" Johnson

Richard C. “RC” Johnson, 79, of Holmen, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017, at the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.

He was born in Sparta, Wis., on August 25, 1937, to Floyd and Isabelle (Schroder) Johnson. Upon graduation from Bangor High School in 1955, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for over four years. On November 10, 1962, he married Karen M. Osgood in Melrose Lutheran Church, Melrose, Wis.

RC worked for Trane Company for 42 years before retiring in 2002. He was an active outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, and golfing, which included two holes-in-one. RC was a long-time member of Holmen Lutheran Church, was a 17-year veteran of the Holmen Volunteer Fire Department and an avid Badger and Packer fan.

Survivors include his loving wife, Karen; a son, Douglas, and his wife, Elisabeth, of Greenwood, Wis.; a sister, Margaret (Herb) Rowan of Sparta; his twin brother, Robert (Ann) Johnson of Rockland, Wis.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Helen (Richard) Gates of Onalaska, Arleen Huber of Onalaska, Sheldon (Jennifer) Osgood of Laughlin, Nev., Doris (Ed) Soukup of Sparta, Dennis (Diane) Osgood of Mindoro, Sherry (Bruce) Woods of Bellville, Wis., and Mickey Osgood of Union Grove, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Isabelle; his in-laws, Willard and Irma Osgood; brothers-in-law, Wendell Osgood and Robert Huber; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Bernie Servais.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, May 2 ^nd , from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 907 Sand Lake Rd., Onalaska, and on Wednesday, May 3 ^rd , at Holmen Lutheran Church, 228 Morris St., in Holmen beginning 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Allison Cobb will officiate. Military honors will follow the service with burial taking place at a later date.
