Richard L. "Rich" Peterson

Richard L. ( “Rich”Pete”) Peterson of La Crescent, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at the age of 80 years, at the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. Rich was born in Galesville, WI on September 19, 1944 to Milford and Genevieve (Francar) Peterson. He grew up in Galesville with his parents and sister Mary Lou. (all deceased) He served with the US Navy from October 15, 1962 – October 14, 1968 in the Pacific. In November of 1983 he met and married Kathy Miller of La Crescent. They had 41 years together. Rich is also survived by a son Adam of Winona, MN and two grandchildren, Imani (17) of Las Vegas and Isiah (14) of Winona.

Rich enjoyed playing softball, bowling, fishing, golfing and boating with his friends and a cold beer after. He worked at Trane Company and retired from Chart Heat Exchangers. Rich was a member of the La Crosse American Legion and VFW.

A gathering for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM followed by military honors by the La Crosse American Legion Post 52, at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crescent, 111 So. Oak Street. A private scattering of ashes will take place at a later date.
