Richard J. Hengstl

April 8, 1965 — July 6, 2017

Rick Hengstl passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 6, 2017 in his home. He was born on April 8, 1965 to Bob and Mary (Kreutzer) Hengstl. Rick is survived by two brothers David Hengstl of La Crosse and Mike Hengstl of Onalaska, one sister Jean Hengstl (Deanna Ritschard) of La Crosse. He was a good uncle to Krista (Ryan) Mickschl, Matthew Hengstl, Tiffany (Matt) Hulburt and Jeffrey Hengstl. Rick would be patient, kind and enjoyed making them laugh. He shot a lot of pool in the basement with them over the years. He was a great -uncle to Emma and Ethan Mickschl & Memphis and Saphira Hulburt. Rick is in Heaven with his parents Bob and Mary Hengstl, his maternal and paternal grandparents, several aunts, uncles and cousins along with his great-niece Justice Hulburt.

Rick will be missed by those closest to him. He had a heart of gold, a true caregiver to others. He’d listen to what you would have to say, with a caring heart, and always wanted to make you proud. He found joy in making people happy. He loved to work in the yard and would get excited to find and see Morel mushrooms. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers, cousins and uncle Tom. In the evening he loved to sit around the fire in the back yard.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the Schumacher – Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, 200 West Ave. S., La Crosse. Rev. Brian D. Konopa will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
