Richard Gordon Friberg

Richard Gordon Friberg, 87, formerly of La Crescent, died on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Benedictine Manor in La Crosse. Richard was born to Richard W. and Hazel (Gunderson) Friberg in Colfax, WI on February 13, 1933. The family moved to Westby where he graduated from high school in 1951 and later attended Luther College in Decorah, IA. He married Rachel Larson in Westby on December 29, 1953. Richard worked with his father at Friberg’s Pure Oil and later was a partner in Friberg’s IGA in Colby, WI. In 1965 he became employed by Motor Parts and Equipment in La Crosse, and since 1967, he had been a sales representative for United Auto Supply in La Crosse until his retirement in 1997.

Richard is survived by his three daughters, Lynne (Jay) Gile of Bangor, Lori (Don) Tabbert of Onalaska, and Susan (James) Holton of Burnsville, MN, six grandchildren, Melinda (Matt) Elsen, Joseph Gile, Heidi (Kyle) Reimann, Katelin (Justin) Johnson, and Kira and Maya Holton, and six great-grandchildren, Levi, Barrett, and Zander Elsen, Evelyn and Harvey Reimann, and Raelynn Johnson. He was preceded in death by his wife Rachel and his parents.
