Raymond E. Pearson

Raymond “Ray” Edward Pearson, age 96, of La Crosse, WI, passed away January 6 ^th , 2021 at Eagle Crest South. Ray was born in Duluth, MN, on September 7, 1924 to Arthur and Mabel (Johnson) Pearson.

Ray graduated from Denfeld High School, Duluth, MN in 1943.  He attended North Park College, Chicago, IL and received as Associate of Arts degree in 1945.  He then attended the University of Minnesota and received his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree in 1948.  Ray committed to everything he did – He was a longtime active member at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, spent most of his career working at Trane, skied the slopes of Mt. La Crosse until he was 75, and golfed and woodworked as long as he was able. But the only thing that exceeded that was his love for his wife, daughter, and family. Ray loved sports and the outdoors all his life and was a frequent spectator at his grandchildren’s athletic events. Later in life he was known to frequent the Eagle Crest Theater to catch a Packer or Badger game with the friends he and Carrie grew to know in that community. His daughter and grandchildren’s homes are filled with his creations and his love for golf and skiing was passed on to his family.

Survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Carrie (Kasperson); daughter, Debra (Bryan) Tornow; grandchildren, Kyle (Kaitlyn) and Ben (Megan Ritter) Tornow; great grandchildren, Vivienne and Eleanor Tornow; sister Margaret (Warren dec.) Johnson; and many other relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur “Will” (Eileen dec.) Pearson.

Due to Covid-19 concerns, Private family services will be held on Monday January, 11th at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home in La Crescent, MN. Private burial to follow at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park, town of Shelby, WI. Memorials preferred to Gundersen Medical Foundation and Bethany Lutheran Homes.
