With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Ralph Gustav Koch, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and pillar of the La Crosse community. Ralph's remarkable life spanned 103 years and 8 months, a testament to his resilience, faith, and unwavering commitment to family and community. He is now home with his Lord.
Born on January 11, 1921, at 1901 Main Street, La Crosse, WI to Gustav and Laura (Baum) Koch (Deceased). Ralph lived an extraordinary life in the same house for 97 years. He shared 69 beautiful years with his beloved wife, Orlean Alice (Arndt), who preceded him in death at the age of 95. Together, they built a legacy of love, raising four sons, Ralph (deceased), Jeffrey, Steven and Kenneth (deceased). He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth and Carol, and brother Harold.
Ralph's family was his greatest joy, and he leaves behind a loving heritage: two sons, Jeffrey (Lori) and Steven (Michele) along with daughter-in-law Cathy McKenzie; sister-in-law Charlene Dunst; 11 grandchildren: Jason (Teresa), Scott (deceased), Rebecca (Ken), Paul (Samantha), Lauren (Jon), Alex (Radhika), Harrison (Madalyn), Alexis (Jeff), Jason (Maggie), Aaron (Kellie), Madison and 21 great-grandchildren. All who will deeply miss his guidance, wisdom, and unconditional love.
A proud veteran, Ralph served in World War II, bravely enduring wounds from shrapnel in the Japanese theater. His selflessness and patriotism inspired us all.
Ralph's professional life was marked by dedication and excellence. He retired from NSP (Xcel Energy) as a substation tech after over 40 years of service. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ralph's passions shone bright. An avid golfer and bowler, he enjoyed countless hours on the greens and lanes. His Christian faith was his foundation, and he was a devoted member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Showing his love by singing in the church choir and serving wherever needed.
Ralph's legacy extends far beyond his accomplishments. He embodied kindness, humility, and generosity. His unwavering commitment to family, community, and faith inspired countless lives.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 25, 2024 at First Ev. Lutheran Church, La Crosse, WI. Pastor Roger Sachs will officiate.
