Ralph W. Houser

Ralph W. Houser, age 91, of La Crescent, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Traditions of La Crescent. He was born on November 24, 1931, in Houston, MN to John and Sarah (Halverson) Houser. Ralph was a very tender-hearted man who was able to make friends easily. He is going to be missed dearly.

Ralph was a member at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in La Crescent and the La Crescent American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, antiquing, and looking for a deal at rummage sales.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Jessie (Treangen) Houser; daughters, Toni (Robert) Frey, Kathy Coffman, and Lori Boisclair; stepchildren, Byron (Sharlyn) Treangen, Terry (Kay) Treangen, and step daughter-in-law, Debbie Treangen; grandchildren, Sarah (Jamie) Kammes, Jeremy Frey (Erin), David (Misty) Coffman, and Eric Coffman; several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; three stepchildren, Dawn Purcell, Russell Treangen, and Bruce Treangen; son-in-law, Robert Boisclair; and his siblings, Henry (Lilah) Houser, Hazel Houser, Celia Hauser, Gilbert “Gib” Houser, Julius Houser, Pearl Houser in infancy, Paul (Ruth) Houser, Salvina “Toots” (Mark “Butch”) Schwabach, Sylvan Houser, Kys (Hildegard) Houser, and Birdie (Charles) Hanson.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 21 N Hill St, La Crescent, MN 55947. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Kary Jonas will officiate. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date.
