Phyllis Ann Barghini

Phyllis A. Barghini, 84 of La Crescent, passed away in her home on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. She was born in La Crosse on January 23, 1933 to Hugh and Esther (Eglinton) Lynch. In June of 1953, she married Richard J. Barghini at St. Peters Catholic Church in Hokah, MN and he preceded her in death on January 11, 1998.

After raising her four boys, she returned to school to receive her RN certificate after 40 years of age. She then worked as an RN for 22 years, including 9 years in Maumee, OH and 7 years in Spooner, WI. She also worked as a school secretary in Garden City, Michigan for 11 years and as a bank bookkeeper and teller in Caledonia, MN and Minneapolis. Following her husband’s death in 1998 she returned to La Crescent where she has resided since.

Phyllis loved being with her family and telling stories about growing up on the farm. She loved time spent at the lake and hearing all about her grandkids and great-grandson’s activities. She also liked to follow football, especially the Seattle Seahawks.

Phyllis is survived by her four sons; Rick (Diane) Barghini, Gregory Barghini,     Scott Barghini and Mark (Beth) Barghini. She is further survived by four grandchildren; Alexandria (Ben) Kixmiller, Steven, Nick and Dominic Barghini; a great-grandson, Keller Kixmiller; two brothers; Bill (Anne) Lynch and Charlie Lynch as well as a sister-in-law, Marian Lynch. In addition to her husband Richard, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bud Lynch and three sisters; Faye, Gail and Mary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon; Saturday, July 15 ^th at Crucifixion Catholic Church, 423 2nd Street, La Crescent with Rev. Gregory Havel officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be held will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:30 A.M. until the time of Mass.
