Philip J. Bouffleur, Jr.

Philip J. Bouffleur, Jr. 92 of La Crosse passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the Hillview Terrace. He was born October 20, 1925 in Chaseburg, WI to Philip and Helen (Ekholm) Bouffleur, Sr. While attending school he helped on the family farm in the Chaseburg area. Philip served in the United States Army during WWII. Upon his discharge he moved to La Crosse and married Ruth Elston on February 15, 1947. She preceded him in death on April 1, 1993. Philip had worked as a mail carrier for the United Sates Postal Service for 33 years until his retirement in 1980.

Philip enjoyed woodworking and making furniture for his children and was proud to have built both his home in La Crosse and his cottage in Price County. He also was an avid fisherman and hunter and worked for many years at Oktoberfest. Philip loved to square dance and make lefse with his wife Ruth. He was a Boy Scout Troop Leader and was instrumental in many scouts achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in La Crosse as well as an active 50 year member of the Masonic Frontier Badger Lodge 0045 F & AM in La Crosse, the Order of the Eastern Star, Scottish Rite, Zor Shriners and Firehouse Jesters.

Philip is survived by three children; Bob (Vickie) Bouffleur of Antlers, OK, Nancy (Brian) Koch of Sheboygan, WI and Mary (Jeff) Aderman of Viroqua, WI; 7 grandchildren; Corey (Ronnell) Bouffleur, April (Cory) Nutter, Matt (Rebecca) English, Sarah (Sam) Vickers, Ross Gerdes, Alynna (Tyler) Malson and Emily (Erik) Stranberg; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, David (Judy) Bouffleur of La Crosse and a sister, Phyllis Brosnan of Cannon Falls, MN. In addition to his wife Ruth, he was preceded in death by a son, Dick Bouffleur.

In accordance to Philip’s wishes there will be no services held. Memorials may be sent to the Philip and Ruth Bouffleur Scholarship Fund C/O Western Technical College, 400 N. 7 ^th Street, La Crosse, WI 54601.
