Paul E. Kolden, 75 of La Crosse passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at the Bethany-Riverside Nursing Facility. He was born May 20, 1945 in La Crosse to Hans and Mildred (Phillips) Kolden. Following High School, Paul enlisted in the United States Navy where he served from 1966 until 1970. Following his discharge, Paul returned to La Crosse and worked as a cast iron molder and pourer for Torrance Casting for many years.
Paul united with six children through his life on earth. Three children were from his marriages, one child he raised from the age of 4yrs old and the other two children he met when they were adults. Paul had open arms for all his children throughout his years on earth and loved them all the same.
Son Billy (Lalaine) Andres of Waukegan, Illinois (grandson Christopher and one granddaughter on the way Olivia), Daughter Molly (Michael) Kolden of Stoddard, Wi, (3 grandchildren; Melanie, Keagan,and, Joclyn), Son, Erik Kolden of La Crosse. Bridget (Chris)Grelle of Stoddard (2 grandson's Aidan and Bryce), Adam (Dawn) Peterson of Fort Mitchell, Alabama (4 grandchildren) and Lindsey (Steve) Pomplin of La Crosse, Wi (1 grandson).
Paul loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He loved to squirrel hunt with his longtime childhood friend Laverne Brown. Paul liked car auctions, and tinkering in his garage at home with treasures he found to keep him busy after retirement. He was a die heart Packer and Brewers fan. Paul was also a proud member of Thomas Rooney VFW Post 1530. At his later years he fought dementia. The caretakers loved him like they were one of their own family members. Paul would ask them many questions but here are the famous one he liked to say '' where do you live, are you in the military and are you married?" Paul's daughter Molly says thank you for all the love and support you gave to dad.
Paul was preceded in death by his late wife Valorie, parents Hans and Mildred Kolden and and his two brothers Marvin Kolden and Keith Kolden. Survived by all of his children, four sisters-in-law, Roseanne Kolden, Shirley Kolden, Linda Smith, and Pamela Willer. One brother-in- law, Kevin Gilbertson.
Family at this time is going to have a private funeral at the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery and sometime next Spring 2021 will have a celebration of life do to the Covid-19 pandemic. Have a blessed day.
